btw, i confuse wheter we need the regulator or not when we want to install in small power engine like motorcycle..are we still need the vaporiser after that?i learn that if we free this LPG it will vaporise automaticly so that we dont need vaporiser if fuel consumption is low such as motorcycle..it is my reading true??ermm how about the gasoline cut off valve?where we want to put that? help me..thank

Typically when I set up any propane conversion system I place a electric solenoid just ahead of the vaporizer unit and tie it into the ignition system. That way the fuel shuts of any time the ignition is off as well.

I have not seen any modern vaporizer that actually needed a pre regulator for propane. They are typically factory built and rated for any realistic pressure a standard propane tank may be able to produce without the safety vent releasing which is around 325 -375 PSI.

With propane you will feel some power loss though. IC engines set up for gasoline have around a 8:1 - 9:1 compression ratio and the ignition advance and curve rate are tailored to gasoline. Propane will produce more power than gasoline if the engine is built for it. That means raising the compression to around 11:1 - 12:1 and advancing the ignition a few more degrees.

Ideally propane will accept more aggressive cam profiles and intake and exhaust modifications too but still retain a smoother idle and running performance characteristic similar to a near stock gasoline engine.

At 110 CC all you will need is a very small propane carburetor and vaporizer unit like whats used on a 3.5 - 8 hp engine driven industrial floor buffer or vacuum or scrubbing machine.

PS. I hope its a four stroke engine. Two stroke engines need that oil additive to keep then engine lubed. Without it your propane burner bike will eat the engine before you even get it tuned up and out the drive way.

yup.its 4 stroke engine...i think i just wanna put the mixer in carburetor ,,because LPG will vaporize itself .so for small power like motorcycle, did we still need vaporizer of regulator,,,( one regulator like used in kitchen was install in the tank),,will my project work?err will i got the picture of propane carburetor like you said,,sorry, i really lack of machinery and industrial knowledge...by the way, thank a lot for helping..

The vaporizer is also the regulator.

They typically have two internal stages. One takes the higher tank pressure and reduces it down to about 1 - 3 PSI then there is a second stage that senses a very fine vacuum signal that is generated by the actual vapor carburetor/mixer unit as the intake air is drawn past an orifice or some sort of venturi port.

The vaporizer unit itself will work just fine off of a vapor feed from the tank for an engine that small. It wont actually need a liquid feed to work properly. In your application its working just as a two stage vapor regulator.

Being a four stroke you will need to advance the ignition ahead several degrees as well. (If possible) Other wise you will have even less power and likely that characteristic rotting cabbage smell following you that the old propane powered vehicles got a bad reputation for years ago.

If you don't or cant I bet you will get teased for being both underpowerd and smelling bad too!

I presume this is not for export to western countries, there is no way you would get a LPG motorbike to pass the various regulations. Getting insurance for it would be out of the question.

While I'm not adverse to riding something that could kill me through inattention ( ala Kawasaki 750 H3, Yamaha RD350, FJ900,) the thought of having to jump off and run like hell to get away from the resultant fireball, after a collision doesn't interest me much.

How do you propose to protect the tank and fittings from damage in an accident?

What will be the tank capacity and what range are you expecting?

It is a nice idea in theory, as lpg is historically cheaper to buy than petrol (gasolene), but if I was looking to go for endurance and economy I'd be going for a diesel/electric combination. Constant speed Diesel motor drives a generator that provides power for the electric traction motors. Best of both worlds.

The LPG convertor usually uses the vehicles cooling system to warm the liquid, but in your case you would have to plumb the engine oil to do the job. VW lpg conversions do this.

You may want to concsider learning proper English writing skills before you develop a operation and repair manual for the motorcycle.

thanks
