Alan Shugart - passed 12/2006

01/05/2007 10:51 PM

Inventor of floppy technology, designed the first hard drive (5 Mb) ans was told by industry leader that NO ONE would need 5Mb of storage!!!

Visionary? He knew if we needed 5 Mb, we'd want more!!

That article says his team invented the first floppy not hard drive.

Just like Edison and others it was a team effort...

Seems a shame to credit the whole invention to just one person whether Edison, Shugart or anyone else...

I've worked for people who take all the credit and look where it got them!!?

A lot richer than me for a start....

John.

Granted, he didn't do it by himself in a garage somewhere!!!

But if he LEAD THE TEAM, is it wrong to give him some credit?

Very sorry if you have been cheated out of something - be a team player!!

Give the man his due credit, if he had the idea, does HE have to do all the legwork??!!

Granted that edison had a team working with him, but unless you have a good team leader who will not give up at the sign of failure will make a wiining team. edison apprently conducted more than 10000 experiments till he came up to the proper material to build the filament that lasted longer than the ones that was available at the time. so i say it is proper to give credit to the person for his persistance in coming up with the invention.
