No Response from ADC

11/05/2009 1:25 AM

im using 2 AD73360 ADCs for digitizing 12 of my analog signals from sensors. the ADCs are interfaced to DSPs.

ADC is getting MCLK(16 MHz) and generating SCLK(8 Mhz), it gets SE, RESET, and SDOFS as desired but there is no output at SD0 for 8 of the 12 sensors the remaining 4 are first generating some output, the after 75sec or so the output stucks?

can anyone indicate the fault.

DSP is programmed such that it will first restart the ADC, the ADC will then transmit a ready indication word then the processor will allow analog to digital conversion.

all the data is synchronized cause all the clocks are ok BUT during opertaion the SCLK changes to 2 MHz even though it is programmed for 8MHz!!!!

Hi araees,

Have you double-checked to make sure your control registers are being properly set?

I would email Analog Devices. They have always responded quickly to my queries.

But do not tell AD that your output stucks! LOL

quite amazingly the error was non as could be expected. it was the line driver IC 74hc245 that was causing problem. it was ok on 'linear ic tester' but was not providing proper current. i tried different companies and different suffix prefix chip, finally it was mitsubishi's with suffix 1P that gave the response.

im still amazed whats the reason cause phillips' ic with suffix n was giving output in another setup, same to this one, but this did not work now!!!
