The topic says 2 core armoured cable for 3 phase supply. Looks strange.

3 phase supply defines supply of 3 phases i.e. R Y B. (Still EARTHING is not considered here due to lack of CORE which is MOST IMPORTANT).

How could you use this supply using just 2 cores?

Most important thing is your application for that.

How could you run a 3 phase motor using just 2 cores?. (Whether it is Al core or Cu core)

THink about it.

guest; are you taking single phase off the 3 phase by using the core for for power, the armour for earth/ground? or trying to use the armoured cable as an conductor? maybe for a corner grounded/earth delta connected supply? perry

Pl. specify your need/application properly, then it could be answerable else it's all meaningless.

HELLOW GUEST,

It is possible to use a 2core aluminium armour cable for a 3Phase system. However the following conditions MUST BE OBSERVED.

(1) The 2 core aluminium armoured cable actually has 3 cores viz.....2 aluminium cores to be used as 2 conductors and armouring in the armour cable to be used as a ground.

(2) The 3phase supply must be a star connected supply, and must be a 3ph 3wire supply,Therefore,it must be an UNGROUNDED supply.

Red phase connect to 1st aluminium conductor

Yellow phase connect to 2nd aluminium conductor

Blue phase connect to the armour and GROUNDED at the supply end of the cable. The blue phase at the load end is also grounded to the armour/ground.

I,hope this answers your question.
