Stainless steel & carbon steel welding electrode

Dear All

I have small tank stainless steel, I should weld angle leg carbon steel, so I need welding electrode to weld the angle on the tank.

1.- <What kind of SS is the tank?

2- Weld a pad (Same SS material) to the tank (ie. E309-L)

3.- Weld the angle leg (CS) to the pad (ie E309-L)

SS material SA 240 316L (pad for the leg same material of tank)

CS angle leg Q235 or equivelant

Actually we use E309 for SS, but Iam not sure can we use it in our case.

It's better to use a numerically higher filler rod/wire than the base metal.

In your case, since I know nothing about the environment, I'd say 316L filler is fine.
