Visio Templates for Factory Floor Layouts

11/18/2009 4:09 AM

This may seem to be a simple problem but it is really bugging me at the moment.

I am using Microsoft Visio to do a layout of the factory that I work in. We have a number of sliding doors, however i cannot find a shape for this in Visio. Does anyone know where i could get this shape / templete?

Thanks

And you won't. Visio is a very basic drawing package designed for things like power-point presentations (so don't expect the full functionality or extensive drawing library of a CAD drawing program).

Your best option is to draw the sliding door yourself once in Visio and save it as a stencil template that you can then use (think of it as a custom shape). For Microsoft Office Visio 2007 it is under the menu "File_Shapes_New Stencil".

Try typing in "Create a shape" into Visio's help for more information.

Hi Andy K,

The stencil: "Walls, Shell and Structure" has the following shapes:

− Pocket
− Double pocket
− By pass
− Bi−fold
− Double bi−fold

− Sliding glass

These all represent different type of sliding mechanisms

Let me know if this helps.
