CAT diesel engine power generation system

you have to be able to check the status of the fuel system. Diesel filters may be dirty so when you start picking up the load the fuel sypply is not enough. (is your diesel supply a clean or dirty diesel?) Also check your air filters and ventillation (if generator is inside an enclosure). If you have access to the engine computer (may need the dongle) check the record log. you will a descritpion of the problem there if the problem has to do with the engine.

Byt the way, i would not recommend tampering with the sensors. PLC gives no indication anyway that there is a high/low level/temp or parameter.

i would contact the manufacturer for information.

FYI, we've change all the fuel and Lube oil filter. all parameter to good to be accused .. btw i just manage to contact the manufacture representative. thanks for the comment dude.

Have u tried to check yr fuel supply if its continuos while the engine runs for that period of 1/2 hour b4 it trips? If yr fuel pump is dirty or blocked by impurities or gradual accumulation of dirts,d engine must continue to trip even when all filters are ok and yr diesel is clean for now.Service d fuel pump.

Try and notice what load comes on each time b4 it trips.Also,disconnect all loads and run it on no-load and make observation. If all parameters are okay,then there must be a malfunctioning component,device or module in the Gen.set.Pls check manufacturer manual,contact an expert or supplier of d gen.set or d manufacturer.

I would like to inquire as to what exactly takes place when the "engine trip" occures. A few years back, I was working on a much smaller generator that would shut down after 30 minutes of running time. The run time had gradually gotten shorter. It was at about a day and a half when the custometer first had problems with it. It sure appeared to me that it was tripping out. It turned out that the plunger that shut the fuel off on shut down had a rubber tip. The rubber had deteroated slightly and after running for a while the rubber would be sucked down and shut the fuel off. I trimmed about 1/8" off the rubber with a utility knife, reassembled and all worked well. Including shutting off when properly signaled.

This engine (either a Cummins or Perkings) would start right back up, but had to cool to get the 30 minutes of run time.

If the amount of run time is effected by the amount of load, I look heavy at the fuel system.

Gents, the problem was solved.. its was due to the ECM system on the engine trip on low lube oil presure. the ECM stand alone system.. and are more focus on the PLC system.. good lesson learn.. the point is not all supplier did not telling us about that.
