power factor

at no load why is my energy meter showing power factor below 20% ?

With no actual loads connected, most of the current flow should magnetizing current for unloaded transformers. This will be mostly reactive (inductive) current so PF should be low.

As you know, the Power Factor in AC is the cosine of the gap between current and voltage.

If your power factor is low can be processors that have connected or can be another inductively or capacitive load you have that makes your power factor meter that will measure low.

Check if you have an inductive or capacitive load in the "low load" that you and correct, including capacitors in the "low load" have, if the load is inductive or you inducers include in your "low load" if your load is capacitive.

Think about it: if the load were only that needed to energise a small length of cable, the power factor would be close to zero.
