Filters for absorbing oil vapours

01/10/2007 10:45 PM

Can anyone suggest the filters which can be provided at the exhaust of compartment vent fans to arrest the oil vapours in Gas Turbine application ? Due to oil leakages in compt the fans which are provided for cooling of the compartment vent the oil vapours whichinturn contamibnate the nearby air filters & further leads to compressor fouling.

We use Smog-Hog to filter the oil vapours from the vacuum pumps in our plant. We have had good results with them.

Some 20 years back Honeywell introduced Electronic Air Cleaners with capacity to clean 0.001 micron. This is very similar to Smog-Hog. You can look into the Honeywell site for Industrial Electronic Air Cleaners. I sold a lot of them then at Pharmaceuticals, Hospitals, Cinema Halls etc., they were both available in floor models and roof/wall mounted models.

There is a newly patented technology (product) that adsorbs all hydrocarbons, and derivatives thereof, (petrochems, etc), which allows for the extraction of the collected contaminants for recycling, and also recycles itself, including vapors, flatulence, etc, which would adsorb the oil and relative vapors. Using Recoverit filled pillows would adsorb the fluid (the source) and eliminate the vapors at the same time, and they are re-usable.
