What are you hooking the current transformer up to; what is your measurement circuitry?

Is that a single-phase load?

Do you know your meter's burden?

How far is the meter from the CT?

Size of the wires you will use for the CT leads to connect to the meter?

As for ratio, 50/1A will do. Or go for 100/5A.

Take a look at the CT-Pod, which is a split core CT to clip over the mains cable. It can be ordered with LCD readout, or 4-20mA out, or RS232 output:

If it is 3 phase, the current is less than 20Amp. There are meters available to meter it directly without using a CT.

You must to use an current transformer of 50/5A (on 230Vac at 7,5kVA you will have aprox. 30Ams) in combination with an analogical instrument with adecvate scale.
