Suggest the material in polymer

11/25/2009 8:18 AM

Conveyors chains (link-pin conveyor chains) made of composite material. Regular chains are made of carbon steel, but we want chains made of Composite material (PLASTIC) that has a tensile strength of at least 5500kg/meter and are lighter in weight and have less wear and tear.

Dear Sir,

You are requested to suggest for the material and grade in polymers whose strength is very high equaling to match properties of metal EN-9.

The main feature of the material is the high Breaking Load, which allows it to carry heavy weights with ease.

The properties that we are looking for in the polymer material are as follows:

1.Breaking strength should be at least 5500kgs/meter sq

2.Should be corrosion resistant

3.Should not catch fire easily. But if it does, then it should have very low smoke emitting property.

4.Self-lubricating

5.Light weight

Application conveyors chains

DIMENSIONS: FLAT: 32 X 6
PIN: 11.2 Dia
BUSH: 30 Dia
PITCH: 63.5

Regards,

Nehal

This is only one company that produces plastic chain. There are others.

Check:

Search GlobalSpec Or:

Dynaveyor Corporation

There was a company in Massachusets. I believe it was Globe Composite Solutions that made composite chain. They also manufacture the tracks that the chain rides in. They have many military contracts and have supplied us with several composites over the years. I'll do a search and see what I come up with.

check this out.
