Have you ever pulled up to a stop sign when traffic was non-existent to very light and there were no pedestrians in sight either? You could see, before you even got to the stop sign that there was no one within even 3 or 4 blocks from any direction. But, if you didn't want a useless ticket from that traffic cop hiding behind the bushes, in the alley a half block down, you were going to have to stop anyway. Then it begins, the beginnings of the end of respect for our legislators and the law enforcement community in general. It begins because, even if only in your subconcious, you think
"Why do we need a stop sign here when a yield sign will do every GOOD thing that a stop sign does?" It continues as you see the same abuse of our time and rights at intersection after intersection, and you come to the conclusion that the only thing that a stop sign can do that a properly obeyed yield sign can't do is give the police another excuse to pull us over and waste our time.
