Hi,

You will probably have to get the original disks and re-install windows. It should leave your files alone, but you should definitely back them up first just to be safe! If this is a company computer, let them do it!

I had a major crash on my dell (xp home) , and recovered by blagging some recovery discs off them.Since then I downloaded BartPe (free) which I used to create my own boot cd.When running BartPe you need to direct it to the folder containing the i386 file.In a crisis you can then restart with bart and use it to re-install windows.Check out available info on the web before you end up in such a situation.Anyway in theory you can create your own rescue disc(s) if your computer came all pre-loaded.

I am not sure if this will help, I've never had this issue but here is some information. You will may need the OS install disk, but you can try this, go to My Computer - Change Setting - Regional and Language Options - click the advance tab, (far right tab)(assuming you are in the U.S.) English (United States) is the 27th option from the top on the drop down menu. As always, when changing a major setting backup your files. And if it is a company computer, let the system admins do it, it may require admin rights to the OS.

Relax there is a way. Goto the 'Start' menu at the lower left of the screen and click on the control panel, if it is another language it will be the icon with a tablet and a gheck mark on it. When there, select the 'Date,Time,Language, and Regional Options' icon that will be the world with a calander infront of it. Since English is a standard language you will not need the OS install disk, that is only for the odd and Asian languages. Once there, click on the icon of a globe 'Regional Language Options'. From there you olny have to select English. I have since mastered IME when I installed Hangul (Korean) on my box.
