Flange Selection-Piping

For selection of flange type RF ,RTJ,etc., is there any certain criteria of pressure and viscosity of the working fluid for the selection?

what standard u r using?

and material should be selected based on the fluid itself?

for example u can't use flange with a flat face on high pressure piping system.

try to read ASME B16.5 for the pressure rating of the flanges.
