CNC Horizontal Machining Center

12/11/2009 9:36 AM

I have one CNC horizontal machining center where all axes X stroke1880,Y stroke 1200,Z stroke 1200 are at one side and other side & front of spindle , there is fixed table which carries maximum Load of component 5000 Kg. Now I want to load the component of 25000 kg on the table so I want to design & manufacure rectagular fixed table of dimensions 5000 mm x 2200 mm x 1000 mm height.Operations on the component are milling, drilling and tapping on end faces only

Now I would like to know what should be the optimum weight of table for 25 tonnes weighed component? so that accordingly I will arrange the ribbing inside the table casting.

Kindly give answers, suggestions or make comments

You have a job ahead of you

Is that a square or rectangle plate you will b machinining?

Will you be Machining out side your envelop, that you'll have to repositon?

What are your tolerances?

Job dimensions are 1200 x 1000 x 4500 mm and it is of rectangular shape and machining is to be done on end faces that is at the end of 4500 length face and earlier job weight was maximumm 5000 kg and job where resting on table whose weight is also 5000 kg. I want to ask whether it should be 1:1 relationship in weight of table and weight of component? or weight of table has to be less than component.

There is no reason that the table should weigh as much as the object you are going to sit on it. The particular design has to be based on your existing structure.

It should be designed for rigidity and stability ref to the machining center. I hope your concrete base is strong enough to take the extra weight without deflection.
