Re: cd player just blinks unable to insert cd

The burned CD is not in a format that the player recognizes. The player is now confused and doesn't know what to do, so it decided to make your life difficult.

Disconnect power from the player for 15 minutes or so, then try again. (Keep in mind that the player may now think it's stolen and will ask you for a startup code, so get this first from your manuals or from the dealer. It's usually only four numbers.)

Does the player have a manual release like on your PC? This is usually a small hole in the front for you to insert a pin or unfolded paper clip.

It sounds as though your player is (technically at least) older than you think, it does not seem to like Audio CDs on blank (burned) CDs. This was very common some years ago......

There is a faint possibility that the particular brand of blank CD is part of the problem....

Burning slowly can help too......

You might also be burning MP3 data and the player cannot play MP3. If thats the case you need to buy software that converts MP3s to Audio CD format when burning!!!

There is also a possibility that its another incompatible music format like Ogg or Flac for example!!!

Audio CD format has the ending .cda if I remember correctly.....

At one time it was common for CDs to get stuck in some players, car and home. Most common problem was a little flash left on the inside of the hole. the disc gets stuck on the spindle and the belt driven mechanism lacks the power to pop it off. To this day I run a pencil around the inside of a CD or DVD prior to playing the first time (habit if nothing else).

How do you know the used unit worked? Have you tried the original faceplate on it?

I forgot to ask the $64,000 question, does it play normal commercial Audio CDs....? The question is for both units that you have.

If you remove power from the player and you require the unlock codes, do not pay for them. Recently I had to put a new battery in my car, and I failed to grab the codes ahead of time. When I called the dealer, they said it would be $80 to get the codes. After searching the web and making a few calls, I was able to get the codes for free. Together the radio manufacturer and the car's manual had all the info I needed. In fact getting the codes was easy enough that it really doesn't make sense to have them on the radios to begin with.

The battery went dead in my 2001 Chrysler Town & Country Ltd. with the four disc CD player. Now, the four LEDs are flashing at 1 second intervals, two on the left then two on the right.
I believe this is some kind of error code. How did you know you needed to enter the unlock code, and how did you do it?
So far, I have not been able to find this information in the manual. Do you know of any resource that explains what the flashing LED error codes indicate?
Thanks for the help

Its probably sending the Morse codes for:-

"UUUUUU RRRRRRRR F****D" or something similar!!!

Have you checked the manufacturers web site for help?

Have you a) recharged the battery and then b) taken the + pole off for the battery for 24 hours, then c) replaced the + pole.....

This resets a lot of devices provided no PIN code is needed. Most modern radios only need the code if they "wake up" in a different car......they know the difference nowadays believe it or not!!! Don't ask me how they do it, but I suspect they "converse" with the MMS processor....

Some time ago my wife had bought a 98 Sebring. It also had a CD player. It played PC-burned CDs at first. A little while later she took it in for some sort of problem (unrelated to the CD player). When she picked it up, suddenly it would no longer play CDs it had always played before.

I suspect that Chrysler loaded new firmware that prevents playing anything but original CDs - probably as a response to the then-growing threat of lawsuits from the recording industry. You may wish to look into that posibility and see of there is anything to that.
