How to Specify Flexible Sleeve Couplings

12/16/2009 12:26 AM

Dear Gents,

actually this is an ELCO Rubber coupling and used in power transmission coupling of gear box (Masson - RSD 401)

How can we specify this item?

A specification might include some or all of following:

Required torque (both starting and running)

RPM

Size, geometry, and keyway type in the shafts to be coupled

Gap between the shaft ends (e.g., if the coupling must be installable/removable without disturbung the shafts)

Presence of any atmosphere that might degrade the coupling materials

Maximum allowable dimensions of the coupling

Permissible misalignment (parallel and angular) of the shafts

Types of devices to be coupled and possible torsional vibration

Possibility of shock loads

There may be more, but this should cover the main items.
