<...dc ct...>

A direct current, current transformer? Wow - that would be novel!

Aren't shunt bypass ammeters used anymore?

May be you want to get "shunt resistance" instead of DC current transformer.

You can use the shunt resistor,

You can refer the mltimeter ( Having 20A range) phenomina

You know there are DC non-contact measurement is possible. And infact it might not always use the hall effect.

The DC current does produce a magnetic field around the conductor. In case of DC this field is to be measured at a certain distance that's all.

In a method I know, this si used to saturate specific type of magnetic material. Then the excitation current is superimposed over it till the core saturates. The difference is proportional to the primary current. The problem is the effect of the permeabilities of the media in between. But that is again the basic principle of the DC-CT operation.

Some details may be somewhere on net. That OP must try to find.

Then we have this with brief principle already in market.

And more this type of measurement used in DC transmission and measuring field current of a Generator under brushless excitation systems..

There are a number of mfrs using the term DCCT out there, referring to Direct Current Current Transducer, when describing their Hall Effect transducers. I agree this is a bastardization of the accepted common use of the term "CT" meaning Current Transformer", but it is what it is.

Any CT will work if DC is pulsating. Only 'pure DC' is problem.

I am sorry about the terminology! But that's how we were taught in early eighties. I meant "Ripple-free" DC.
