what is use of balancing leak off line in Boiler Feed Pump?

Do you have any idea of how many BFW pump designs there are? Do you really think that they all have a "balancing leak off line" needed? The fact that you want to "know in detail" makes it even more improbable for anyone to give you a good answer.

Can you post the P&ID that shows the BFW pumps including the pump suction line, the pump discharge line and the "balance leak-off line?

If we can see this piping then maybe we could suggest reasons.
