MIG Welding and TIG Welding

can mig & tig welding can be done on the same material for e.g root run+hot pass with mig welding & the final welding with tig welding for better finish .& appearance. is this is possible..

Keep practicing with the mig and you won't need to touch up with the tig, which is slower.

It really depends on the metal, and the application.

For very important joints, like pipe, tig might be used to get a perfect root pass. If the pipe is flooded with inert gas, the inside can be completely welded, no crack. This takes practice, too. You have to burn through, and then weld up the gap.

In aluminum, tig is much cleaner, and more likely to get a perfect weld. Mig is going along so quickly, you might miss a void. Just capping a bad weld with a pretty cover is cheating, will come back on you later.
