Wiring Diagrams for USB Cables?

12/27/2009 10:26 AM

I'm trying to rewire a mouse cable into a mouse. Cable colors are tan, blue, white and green. I understand from web search the white is likely -Data, green is +data but don't know blue and tan choices for "V" and "G" on the mouse pcb. Can you help?

If you are re-wiring it.... Why didn't you note what colour wire was soldered where???

Why not look inside another similar mouse?

Clearly not standard colors. First, are you sure this is a USB mouse?

The next step is to open the mouse and see if you can identify any known ICs. Once you find one that you can identify, look up the chip on the net and find where the Vcc and Ground pins are on the chip.

Use a continuity meter to trace from the chip lead to the wires on the end of the cable. Identify Vcc and ground and make sure that they connect to the USB connector pins for Vcc and ground.

You can find the USB pin out standards on the net.

Finally, you can buy USB corded mice for $10 to $15. Why are you bothering with all this anyway?

i dont know if ur and my mouse are same or not but mine is of Dell with fancy lighting in it. here it is:

it is written in this manner C D V G and blue is in C green in D magenta in V and white in G. do it at ur risk cz it might be different. something like this happened to me once b4 and that mouse had different coloured cables. i experimented a bit with it. first time soldering was wrong combination, i just plugged it in and out in 5 secs. then resoldered another combination and got it right. Although had to discard that mouse later on anyway.

Different manufacturers use different colour schemes inside mouse & keybord cables & different interconnects inside mouse & keyboards [PS-2 or USB].

You shold have cut the cable leaving some 1/2 an inch on both sides before trying to replace the cable.
