BMW 645ci rear window heating element repair/replace

01/02/2010 3:42 AM

Is removing the rear window a real problem or quite easy, the tint keeps peeling off a s when the roof is raised or lowered the film catches and also the heating element has only two bars working.

The reason the heater is not working is because the internal electric pathways have broken. The tint that is pealing has to be aftermarket window tint or film and needs to be removed and replaced. Removing the glass is simple as long as you cut away the old window seal/rubber and replace it with a new one.

In the US their are windshield shops who can do this cheaper than the dealer.

You can google windshield heating element repair kits.

You can do it yourself if you have patience and a sharp knife!
