Centrifugal Gas Compressor

01/04/2010 5:50 AM

does any one know a manufacturing company for Centrifugal gas compreesor, two satges. First stage with flow rate of 100mmSCFD & the second stage is with flow rate of 150mmSCFD. I contacted Dresser Rand, Rolls Royce, GE-Nuovo Pignone , Solar Turbine, and Elliot. All of them have declined except Solar Turbine.

Do you know other manufacturers for this type of compressors. Please help.

Why did they decline? My experience is that they are all hungry for business, there must be some aspect of this project that is not very attractive.

Some additional OEM's include:

MAN Turbo in Germany

Siemans in Germany

Mitsubishi in Japan

Hitachi in Japan

BHL in India

You might try Kaeser Comp - they have about everything:

WHOA there!!!! You can't expect a compressor's 2cd stage to produce MORE flow than the 1st stage. It's what goes in = what comes out - losses and compression.

You don't state your pressure requirements. If the pressure is relatively low (< 1,000 psig) you'll probably have to use multiple units to reach the high flow rate. Multiple screw and piston compressors are used for wind tunnels.

We use high-pressure/high flow rate 5 stage reciprocating compressors: 850 scfm at 3,500 psig.

I am the Senior High Pressure Gas Facility Engineer at a major NASA complex. We have 3 Cooper high pressure/high flow Air compressors which produce 850 scfm at 3,500 psig and 2 Clark compressors for 900 scfm at 3,500 psig each. Also have 2 Henderson helium compressors for 400 scfm at 4,500 psig each. For cryogenic service, we also provide gaseous nitrogen at 4,200 scfm at 4,500 psig and gaseous hydrogen at 1,800scfm at 2,800 psig. We are capable of running nitrogen to 15,000 psig.

Cool stuff - I haven't worked in that industry in 20 years.

I thought you might have been a Kaeser rep - I recall a multi stage high pressure gas compressor they offered way back that was rather impressive for the times.
