01/07/2010 9:08 AM

dear sir

i am working in a storage terminal.in our company.we have lpg storage and despatch facilty.for lpg truck loading we have a automatic accuload system.but this system is not working since 2 years.its a very old one.right now our truck loading time is 100 min for each truck.we want to reduce the truck loading time to almost 50 min.so what are different methods to reduce the lpg truck loading.what all fetures we have to add to reduce truck loading in all section, right from spheres to the truck. also i want to know about the estimated cost for these system.

with regards

Either fix what you have or double the capacity of your pumping system. The cost and related efforts are probably specific to your area and needs.

If your paid by the hour dont worry about it.

To add to TCM Tech post... the control system which supports the loading is only one part. the pumping system... return lines how much energy can be put into the system before LPG transitions to gas. maintaining the proper pressure and temperature would be done in the system... also knowing the before TAR weight of the vehicle can then calculate how much to add to the tanker... so would need weigh scale inputs... These would all be part of the equation to evaluate the cost to implement the solution... then this has to be factored to the ROI based on the 50 mins of savings per truck... Sounds like you need an automation engineering company... if the pumps and piping are already in place....

Have done this in the past with DCS companies proividing tickets and accounting information... the standalone solutions offer a get what you pay for solution... if you can maintain it and they do not go out of business then you may be able to get support... a PLC or DCS answer then would be based on the skills of the programmer and the support at the faciltiy to maintain that equipment... again the soultion will be only as good as the maintenance...

thanks for replying me.even if we increase the pumping capacity because of the check valve in the trucks it will permit only 350 kg per minute.350 kg per minute means for 18MT it will take allmost 52 minutes on average.plus the loading arm connection and disconnection time will be around 10 minutes. and for placing the truck it will take 5 minutes on average.so total 70 minutes it will take. so any time reduction can be done to reduce truck connection time by implementing latest technolaogy.

thanks for replying.even if we increase the pump capacity or by addtion of the new pumps, because of the check valve in the trucks it will not allow beyond a certain limit. the check valve permits only 350kg per minute. so for a truck to load 18MT it will take 52 minutes on average.

truck connection and disconnection time=10 min

truck placing time=5 min

so average 70 minutes for each truck

so i want to reduce time in all these section in cooperating the latest technology.

is there any new methods of connecting loading arms with trucks other than the old way of tightening bolts.

or is there any new method for fast truck loading into trucks etc. i want details for all these things and also what would be the cost for implementing these thing.

hoping you will reply soon

In addition to the above, make sure that the pipeline velocity stays below 1m/s, otherwise there may be a risk of static electricity build-up in the non-conductive liquids being pumped and it causing unwanted effects.
