Will Work for Food :)

01/08/2010 5:08 AM

Dear All, Please guide me to right direction. I'm an undergraduate student (4th year) of control systems department of Aviation University, Ukraine. My problem is I have not hands on experience. My school can not provide me a practical training. Therefore I have to do it myself. Aviation field is not priority, I'm willing to try myself in any industry where I can apply my knowledge. I'll have only one month for practice this summer. I speak English and Deutsch. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Find any upscale manufacturing facility. Walk in and tell the Maintenance Manager the same thing you just told us. Ask him for access to a problem area. Take a week to generate a plan to improve the deficiency. Include everything! Design, parts, downtime, personnel, etc. Do this three more times and get back to school. P.S. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. After this you'll have improved your problem solving skills, your people skills, expanded your resume, and you may even accidentally land a job! Good Luck!

Andrei,

What you have expressed is a common panic normally felt in all final year students. Fields have wave motions and can not be take for granted for permanent scope.

If you have desires , ambitions and goals of interest or fields of interest the choice is open to you by all means.

Spent some lonely nights or brudings to decide what you want to do. Have your plan of action including alternate options.

Have rating analysis on pros and cons of the selected fields.

For freshers ,scope is every where and you got to choose your line of career based on your strengths and capabilities. It can even be based on common sense and your knowledge on the world around you.

Choose, prepare, specialize and enjoy the life journey.

The hesitation is just up to to JUMP into the ocean of real life and if you know swimming you can survive. So practice swimming.

Best Wishes and keep happy, healthy, good spirits, faith and confidence.

I WOULD AGAIN LAY EMPHASIS ON A CRITICAL TERM CALLED FAITH.

Greetings to Mr.Blink,

Nice meeting you here in CR4. Thank you for heartful words of appreciation. To be frank with you ,I simply reproduced my mental make up during the finish of my Technology Degree 27 years back. I took up the same said standing and till on this day keep going on with the thrilling and adventurous journey of life.It is pleasure to share it with youngsters who needs direction on decision making.

Cheers and regards.

Majority of final year engineering students face this situation. SO do not worry much. You have a long carrier ahead of you. Industry takes the engineers from engineering Scholl/college at the entry level and trains them to suit their requirements. You have strong theoretical knowledge and upon which a super structure is built by systematic training. Usually the engineering colleges arrange summer placements program as a part of academic activities. You should check with your professors. All the best.
