Each of those 3 terms comes up with full explanations if you enter them separately into Google.

It would help if you provided more information concerning your interests and the source of this information.

Undertaking a search on The Engineering Web found on the GlobalSpec web site, here is what I found:

  1. FAR 25.853(b) relates to Federal Aviation Regulation Part 25. The specific area refers to nonmetallic seat parts. So, the cushion and seat covering material must meet the requirements of this regulation. Similarly, if their are any plastic parts, they must also satisfy the requirement. http://www.fire.tc.faa.gov/pdf/handbook/00-12_apC.pdf
  2. From the Lamatek glossary web page: "DOT MVSS-302 - Department of Transportation Motor Vehicles Safety Standard in which the test sample is ignited in a horizontal position by a calibrated gas flame for 15 seconds. Burn length, time and speed are determined and sample is classified by the outcome. This is a small scale component test developed for automotive interior materials."
  3. Underwriters Laboratories will tell you all you need to know about UL 94 flammability testing standards.

What are you working on?

Thank you!

I'm working on a senior project where we are dampening the sound emissions from a hairdryer. We were looking at vibration reducing materials and we didnt really know what that meant, and we couldnt really find out what they meant, except for the UL rating.
