Replacement Kits for Plug-Sleeve type valves

01/16/2010 6:36 PM

I require Replacement Kits for Plug-Sleeve type valves of different makes - not necessarily OEM make. Any economical branded or non-branded repalcement kits of standard quality will do. Please guide how I shd go about sourcing them. Whether such manufacturers are traceable ? Is it legal to buy & use such non branded replacement kits on branded valves & other equipments ? Are there any such dealers in India?

Regards &Best wishes

MOSTLY ALL PLUG VALVES HAVE THEIR OWN SLEEVES. ALL ARE TO FIT WITHIN PARAMETERS TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. WITH THAT BEING SAID, THE SLEEVES HAVE BEEN ENGINEERED FOR TOLERANCE WEAR AND ACCEPTABLE SAFETY PERCAUTIONS. THE BODY ALONG WITH THE PLUG ITSELF, MUST FALL WITHIN THE ACCEPTABLE TOLERANCES. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE OVER 30 YEARS THAT NOT ALL ARE THE SAME. I DO NOT CLAIM TO HAVE SEEN ALL, BUT HAVE SEEN MANY. ANGLES CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM APPLICATION TO APPLICATION. TO FOLLOW WITH THE GENERAL FACTORY SPECIFICATION WILL KEEP YOU IN WARRANTIES AND SAFETY ISSUES FOR YOUR VALVE. JUST BECAUSE A LINER IS PUT IN A PLUG VALVE AND IT IS TESTED, DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN IT'S RIGHT! ALL CONDITIONS FOR THE APPLICATIONS MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION, AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT.

Thanx TRICKYDIC !

Your response is more on the technical aspects. I agree with what u state.

I have found a guy who can manufactue & supply components as per specs / drawing or a sample. He seems to be an expert at meeting the critiria specified. If u are in the fluid tech field perhaps acquainting with him would solve many a problem - ie if u have any. just reply to this post if u r interested

The other issue you may run into is reassembly. But, if you have been doing this some already you may already have tooling. The issues that I have occurred with different liners mostly pertain to installation. Coning dies, locking mandrels and sizing dies are is a key aspect on rebuilding. It sounds like you may have a good source on your liners. If I can be of any assistance I would be available if you need. I have had extensive training, schooling and on hands experience for almost 30 years. I also have designed a great deal of installation tooling to rebuild these guys. Have a great day!

Thanx TRICKYDIC !

First let me say sorry for not being grateful to your response for so long. No excuses, I just lost track.

Your response is thought provoking. The fact is I am new to this field. Could you guide me to resources where I can find some good educative and useful info on installation, rebuilding, coning dies, locking mandrels and sizing dies which as you so correctly say, are is a key aspect on rebuilding.

I am a novice and I need to rebuild some of these SS Plug valves. Its really very nice of you to offer assistance and your valuable time.I am sure your 30 yrs experience will be helpfu in providing accurate guidance. I feel if we can now directly discuss it would be good. My email is dhinojwala at gmail dot com [ no spaces in between].

Great Day!
