Improve the short circuit making current of the Load Break Switch

Message from Jimmy Wong K.M.

Hi, we are involved in designing of M.V, switchgear. We frequently use silver-plated copper contacts, silver plated chromium-copper contacts, tungsten-copper contacts, etc for the contacts of the Load Break Switch. I wish to know what is the best combination of different alloys with copper that will produce the following results:

1. Increase its making current capacity tremendous, instead of passing through the making current test of 50kA one time, it could pass through 3 times.

2. Increase its mechanical durability, e.g. instead of passing through its 1000 times mechanical switching test without affecting its electrical performance, it could pass through 5,000 times.

You are asking for specific answers based on general questions after supplying vague information.

If we can help you at all, you must be much more specific regarding your present switchgear and test procedures.
