Sintered alloyed copper contacts for Load Break Switches

01/23/2007 8:32 PM

Message from Jimwkm,

I wish to know how to use the different combinations of materials such as silver, chromium, tungstein, graphite, etc, to improve the properties of copper contacts for the following applications:

1. Increase the making current ability and durability, such as increase the number of times of making current of 50kA.

2. Increase the mechanical durability such as increase the mechanical switching times of a load break switch from 1,000 times to 5,000 times.

Apparently, the ultimate combination for low resistance, high wear resistance and reliability for electrical contacts is Paliney 7 and Neyoro G. As they are primarily gold alloys they will be expensive.

Hope this helps.
