Amplifying Satellite Remote Controls

01/20/2010 10:57 PM

Anyone know how to amplify or recreate a satellite remote so it will work from a different floor or through walls? Would save a lot of steps when kids are watching TV in the middle of the night.

Go to just about any TV store and buy them. One type is just a transmitter that reads the signal from your remote and turns it into radio frequency, at the other end there is receiver that points at your machine and it reads the RF signal and turns it back into a IR signal. Couple of dollars, works through most walls with quite reasonable distances. Every time my neighbour changed channels we did too.

There is another one that utilises the TV cable to do the same thing.
