Need a New Printer: Suggestions Wanted

01/20/2010 3:31 PM

We need a new printer that can handle letter, legal and ledger size paper, preferably from different trays. A networkable laser printer of some sort with Color would be a plus. Scanning, copy and auto feed fax are also desirable.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what printers new or recent vintage would be reliable and reasonably inexpensive to operate?

There are a lot of good printers out there, volume will dictate the printer you need. Color will exponentially add to the cost and should only be considered if it is an absolute requirement. The color laser printers use 4 cartridges which are generally more expensive than the black only cartridges. Repairs are also more expensive on the color printers.

If you are looking for a good production printer I suggest the HP 4350. It's fast and dependable.

We have about 6 people in the office and usage is not really heavy but we do need it to be reliable and not terribly expensive. The main concern is being able to handle general office printing and to be able to scan and print drawings with markups on them for transmission to other offices and customers.

I'll check out the HP.

Thanks!

The HP 4350 is more of a production printer that should be networked to get the most benefit from it. It does not have a scan function. You should look into the MFP models.

Someone else is now even more frustrated than I was. The problem has now moved above my pay grade.

Thanks for the suggestions.
