Good knowledge and experience in (1) power system design, (2) substation design, (3) protection system design, (4) industrial system design (switchgear, MCC, motor starter, UPS, Drives, cable selection etc.), (5) Industrial process control system (DCS, SCADA)design are still demanding here, even in this economic crisis. In recent past, most electrical engineers moved to IT and electronics (High Tech) field and it makes the core electrical engineering area vacant. I know many old (70+) engineers are working in this area because of this shortage. The core electrical engineering education, especially power system and switchgear/protection system are not taught intensively in many universities in these countries and the vacant will last for a while. I, myself, used to work in IT for a while and back to core electrical engineering after few years with much better pay (almost double) in this field. If your expertise is in Oil/Gas or Nuclear Power, you are on the list of top demand, not in only threes countries but also over the World. Believe it or not it is true.
