We often have confusion when a reference is made to earth. Do you actually mean earth(the dirt) or do you mean a fault to a grounded conductor?

Dear friend,

There are two types of earth faults . 1. Earthe leakage fault and 2. Dedicated earth fault.

The earth fault current is also mentioned through the CBCT and connected to the ELR and through a ammeter.

THE Voltage/ Impedance of the earth fault loop path. The earth fault loop path impedance includes the risistance of the metal body fault item, earth continuity conductor resistance, earthing lead resistance, earth electrode resistance, reistance of the general mass of earth, earth electrode resistance of Neutral transformer and the transformers earth continuity conductor resistance. sum all and that is ur total earth fault loop[ impedance.
