HVAC Duct Classes

In the HVAC duct consultant say class VIII some one say class VI. What is different and which are places to use the classes?

Class VIII & VI HVAC duct is not identifiable. SMACNA classifies duct as low, medium and high pressure. Duct operating up through 2" s p is listed as Low Press; from 3" through 6" s p as Medium Press; and 8" through 10" s p is High Press. Largest dimension in width or depth determines metal gauge (thickness). Each press catagory also lists sealant and connection requirements.

You should obtain the SMACNA Manual which details all requirements for fabrication of ducts.
