Simple Timer

01/26/2007 10:55 AM

I'm looking to build a simple timer. All I need is 4 buttons:

Button1 - Increment minutes x 1 each time pressed

Button2 - Increment hours(up to 99) x 1 each time pressed

Button3 - Stop/Clear LCD(Sorry also need it to drive a LCD)

Button 4 - Start.

I also need it to output a signal at end of countdown and then restart the countdown continuously.

Have been on the net but the chips are a bit complicated.

Is there a simple to use chip out there that can do this.

Many Thanks

Paul

I do not think there will be a chip dedicated to do so.

Have you worked with PIC 16F84?

If you don't need to invent it, buy it!.

Try redlion.net and take a look at the C48T.

I have no association with Red Lion, I have used their products before and have been happy with them.

Trumeter has also these timers.

Quality is good and price is quite low.

Thanks everyone,

You have given me food for thought. Ive never used the 16F84, are there any good sites on how these work. I also would prefer to build my own project although the timers you pointed out look realy good, but still a bit over the top for what i need.

Thanks again and ill let you know how i progress.
