If yes, what are the proper equitions to calculate the buffer tank size ?

Calculate the total heat load of the system

Q = m cp (Tr - Ts)

then,

V = Q / (ρ * cp * Δ T)

take care the units.

You are smart to think about this. A lot of people overlook buffer tanks. The buffer tank is used if the chiller system volume is too small. A small system volume will cause short cycling of the chiller. Each chiller has different requirements for minimum system volume. Start by calculating your system volume including chiller and all piping. Then consult the chiller rep.
