02/05/2010 1:36 PM

does anyone know of the faults on some of the renault range of cars relating to the electronics.

ie

wipers coming on by themselves.

radios working by themselves.

electric windows working.

engine statring

alarms going off.

steering locking even when elctronic card is inserted.

and lots of other random faults, ps some even when there is no one in the car!!

The fix is simple, never buy French cars EVER.....I learnt that 40 odd years ago, went against it once 20 years ago and regretted it immediately again....

Its about the only time I ever say "NEVER"!!!

Also you will NEVER fix all those problems for more than a short time or so at best, usually at high cost. The search and replacement will also not be cheap.....get rid of it asap..

The French have learned how to build "Friday tea time cars" through the whole week, day & night!!!

Even if the risk is only 1:100 of getting a dud, the risk is still too high....

Nice one.

although if it wasnt for reno the Automobile Association would have notheing to do.

good job they dont make planes

i will never touch one!!

Unless its to push it out of the way

I am on my second Renault Clio and they have both been great little cars!

I also know a number of other people with Renault's (Mostly Clios) who think there cars are great and love them to bits.

20 years is a long time and things do change!

I know that I am biased. Seen too much crap from France that they call cars (Voitures?)

I have a neighbour with a 3 year old Peugeot, its full of extras and crap.....total rubbish....I have had several friends over the last 5 or 6 years, with one exception (girlfriend of my daughter) all had "Experiences" with their French cars, none will buy French again, ever.....

I know that some French cars work exactly as they should do. The question is what is the percentage good to bad, I personally haven't got a clue....

The problem is to find out which ones!! Even cars that should be completely identical show major differences (it would seem)....

Simple fix/answer, don't buy French.....but if you like an adventure..........Do buy French cars!!

I saw a Mitsubishi with "Mitsubishi never again" as a sign in the back window (I have had several as private cars over the years), I asked him why? The answer was that as an amateur mechanic, he wanted a car that need working on occasionally, the Mitsubishi never went wrong!!

Everyone needs to make their own choice, I have made mine!
