If It Wasn't the Shuttle, What Did NASA Launch This Morning?

02/07/2010 9:23 PM

I got up early this morning and watched for the shuttle to launch checking my Iphone to see if it was scrubbed or not. There was a problem connecting to Nasa.gov and I wasn't sure so I waited a few minutes past launch time and saw a fiery object rise up in the appropriate compass heading. It pulsed and glowed orange as a typical shuttle launch but kept a very low altitude rising very slowly. It burned out gradually and then appeared as a satellite (white & starlike) and took an easterly heading.

Anyone see anything like that? Any ideas as to what it was? I thought I had witnessed the shuttle go up and was surprised to learn today that it had been scrubbed. If what I saw was a flare why would it continue in a easterly heading? I watched it for probably 5 minutes or longer and did manage to get a photo - but it is just a pinpoint as I was half asleep and had just injured my hand from tripping over an obstacle in the yard and wasn't able to mount it on a tripod or even to zoom in.

Anyway, I am very curious as to what it might have been. Anyone having reasonable ideas of what it was please let me know. BTW, my QTH is just west of West Palm Beach.

It was an alien spaceship. I know that because I was the pilot...I was born in Betelgeuse (that's what you Earthlings call it...we call it βÉψ→φρ‰∞∏), but don't tell the guys at CR4 or they will give me a hard time.

It was the shuttle...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100208/ap_on_sc/us_space_shuttle

But in your case you actually you actually were not half asleep, and you injured your hand tripping over a bubble of space time from 24 hours in the future. As you fell into the bubble you witnessed the shuttle taking off, but it was just tomorrow when it happened.

The bubble of space time eventually burst and you found yourself back in your normal time, however in a parallel universe where we actually know about bubbles in space time. You think I am crazy, but that is only because you are a yokel from a back water universe that has not advanced enough to understand these things...

Either that or it was a weather balloon. We use that one a lot too.

As the Penguins say...You didn't see anything!

Your government would never covertly send anything into space.

You were asleep,never woke up.

You hit your hand on the headboard of the bed.

The picture that you have was taken from your bedroom window by accident when you dropped the camera while sleepwalking!

Yea, that's it,yea...

Now you just rest and there will be a couple of nice men in black by to see you later.

We are very concerned about these things that you think that you are seeing in the night sky.

Everything will be just fine soon. We're going to take real good care of you.

Goodnight and pleasant dreams ... Friend.

Thanks for the superb answers. Actually, I truly am curious as to what it was. Does anyone know if NASA may have launched a flare of some type for weather-related purposes prior to scrubbing the launch.

BTW, I registered on this site but never received the confirmation email. Please, no jokes on that one either.

Since no one has responded, and since I have seen nothing in news reports, it must be that the object was local. Therefore, it was probably landing lights on a plane. But thanks for the input and creative writing. Some of it was actually quite good.
