It is not really clear if the bolt is made of brass or is the bolt (steel) is used in a brass female thread. What is your suggestion if the brass shears before the bot breaks ?
Your recommendation is the BEST example why NOT use recipes in engineering !
I unfortunately noticed several if not many times that participants give counsel without the slightest knowledge in the concerned field and not aware of the responsibility they take toward the one asking the question and full of confidence in the counsel he/she gets!
Better if you are not sure, NOT to give an irresponsible recommendation!
The tightening torque has to consider the brass quality (mechanical properties) the engaged thread length and last but not least the friction on the different sliding surfaces. The value depends of the kind of assembly and the nature of the load applied on the assembly. So that a GOOD and SAFE answer can only be done when ALL informations are available.
To come back to the "recommendation" the result could be an overstressed assembly or a too loose one depending on the bolt shaft length.
