SCADA Metrics

02/08/2010 4:52 PM

I am trying to expand my knowledge on Electric SCADA systems and thought I will start here. I know SCADA can measures Real time demand, Reactive power, Power Factor and frequency and if I am not mistaken has the capability to control distribution devices.

What I am really looking for is "SCADA 101" can anyone here help me or guide me to where I can learn more about SCADA,

Mainly Interested in:

· Over view of the structure and setup of SCADA systems and basics of communication methods and media it uses for that (PLC, RF, etc…).

· Units of measure that it can track and/or record, I would prefer a list of all possible measurements SCADA systems is capable of.

· SCADA systems integration standards out there with other G&T systems such as Energy management systems, Load forecast, Market bids and offers…

You help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Start here:

SCADA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

for the basics.

And welcome to CR4. There are guys here who can do that scada stuff in their sleep.

As long as it's not homework. If it is homework and the OP is honest, there are those here who will teach you how to arrive at a logical decision without just giving the answer.

Good luck.
