Try this stuff . . . made with boric acid . . . is both a preservative and insecticide . . . is biodegrable and non-toxic.

I've had good results protecting pine from our very aggressive termites by soaking copper sulphate into the timber (can be done by repeated coverage with a paint brush).

Get as good a penetration into the timber as you can.

After this has dried, repeat using borax solution.

The borax reacts with the copper sulphate to form a fairly insoluble copper borate which, while fairly harmless to humans, seems to be very poorly tolerated by insects.

Advantage of this is it is cheap, readily applied by you and the chemicals are usually easily available.

Our company provides a variety of natural ingredients to manufacturers, farmers, gardeners etc. One of them is neem oil. It has a very very long history protecting property, crops, animals and people against a variety of pests and is used in a vareity of skincare products and mosquito repellents. It is easy to use, inexpensive and has a broad range of applications. On our farm we use it on crops, horses, dogs and around the house. Our website www.pureandsimpleways.com has a good description. You could send a message via contact us with this application and will get a response from a chemist as how to best mix for this application. I am only familar with crops and horse/cow uses. Neem is not a poison. It does cause pests to lose their urge to eat and thus they die. It also stops reproduction. Available is a large amount of research from universities and government agencies. Neem is truly one of the most effective medicinal plants in the world.
