Hello, you need to check the alternator and voltage regulator. It's most likely built into the alternator. To be loosing so much water from the battery so quickly the alternator most likely is overcharging or outputting to much voltage.
If the output voltage is above 14.5vdc (normal voltage engine running 13.5vdc) you could damage the electronics and burnout the lights. This can damage the plates in the battery. You could also be loosing some of the acid also which would lower the capacity of the battery to start the engine.
One other thing you could check is to see if the battery case is cracked/damage and leaking out the electrolyte.

Your battery is overcharging, likely because of a defective voltage regulator. Under normal conditions the gas evolved from battery charging is explosive and must be properly vented. Under overcharging conditions there will be more gas to dissipate. Make sure your battery compartment is adequately vented.
Something You guys missed that I think most people are not aware of.
When testing the alternator It is advisable to remove it and bring it to a parts store if possible.
The reason for this is that automotive alternators are polyphase with each phase operating at a different rpm.
It Is highly possible for it to fail in phases with typically the lower speeds going first. This could account for undercharging during idle or low speed driving and overcharging during high speed driving (high way).
I agree with the above posts that this could also harm your battery. If there is damage to your battery, correcting your charging issue will not repair it.
@above
i guess you are right as the low battery indicator glows when the car is idling or ar veyr low rpm.
wat can be done in this case? will i have to replace it?
thanks and regards

You will probably have to replace the alternator (if it has a built-in regulator, even more likely). I don't know any details on Tata (not sold here in USA), but most alternators can be rebuilt; here, most auto parts stores can supply rebuilt on exchange basis (bring your old one back for "core charge", a deposit of money to ensure that they get your old one to rebuild). Here, also, most auto parts stores will check your charging system for free - this could prevent your replacing the entire alternator if only the regulator is bad, for example. Check if anyone where you are will test - especially if it's free!

When I was younger, I went out with a girl that had a pair of Tatas. She took good care of those Tatas, washing them regularly. Some times she would allow me to help her with the washing procedures. We sure did enjoy those Tatas.
Anyway, Tata Motors of India, website looks like they have some nice models. Also from there website it looks like Tata Motors is going to foray into combat & defense models to round out it's defense business right up to front line combat models.
Well bob c have a good day and check out all the Tata models.
Ta ta for now Charles
