hello sirs.

I have to install the line differential and i have to choose the setting for the Idiff (trip value), can some can guide me how and on what basis can i choose the value .

my cable length is 800 meter, voltage is 13.8kv and and my nominal current is 400 amps, my cts are 1000/5 and the difference of the current between both nodes are 30 amps.

please suggest.

The I diff min setting must take into account the cable charging current which is a function of the voltage, frequency, unit length capacitance, and length of the cable. this current accounts for the difference in current on either end and 1.5 times this value will give a safety margin for transient increases in charging current attributed to transient overvoltage conditions (if appicable). the ct's of course must be suitable for diff i.e. class X.
