Gas Infrared Ovens

02/16/2010 11:17 PM

Hi All

Does Anybody know about process cost saving when replacing conventional gas oven

by gas infrared oven in the process of drying ?

A regular oven heats the air. So how much air is does it need to heat? Is the air that is heated being continuously exhausted? If so, whats the CFM and the temp of the oven? If direct fired, it should have almost as high of an efficiency as the infrared unit, but what is the efficiency? What is the exhaust associated with the burner? What is the Btu rating of the burner?

an infrared unit doesn't heat the air, and doesn't require burner exhaust. What is its efficiency and Btu/hr rating?

I want to explain my question .

Certainly if the hot air is directly fired then the conventional gas oven has greater efficiency than that of gas infrared oven .But overall efficiency may be less .

In conventional gas oven the carrier of heat is hot air .But we also know the hot air

has high capacity for water molecules (moisture / steam ) and these water molecules find less probability to escape from space inside the oven . So more heat

is required to give chance to escape resulting in the wastage of heat energy .

In gas infrared oven a high speed exhaust fan may be installed to evacuate the water

molecules inside the oven resulting in fast evaporation of water .Thus overall efficiency may be greater than that of conventional gas oven .

But the main problem is the uniform distribution of infrared radiations .
