Energy Analyzers

02/16/2010 11:44 PM

I have been facing a problem in the reading of an Energy Analyzer and need to check the CT 4000/5A but don't know how to test it.

Please help!

I don't know if there are any commonly available clamp-around ammeters that cover both of these widely spaced ranges, so you might have to get two....

Send it back to manufacture to check.

Connect two identical transformers.
Take a conductor that is good for 4000 amp through center of both transformers.
Short start of 4000 amp conductor to end of 4000 amp conductor.
Apply 5 amp to 5 amp connection of one transformer.
Measure current from 5 amp connection of other transformer.
Output current and input current should be the same.

Re: Energy Analyzers

Mr. Signode,

please clarify whether there is a problem in energy analyzer or CT. To confirm readings on Energy analyzers, you should have current input(from CT) and voltage input (from PT). Then if you practically want to observe the readings, then actual load of 4000A should be available. if your doubt is that without load of 4000 A, you want to observe the correctness of Energy analyzer... sorry, i dont have any info regarding that...

2) Regarding CT, please check wit the manufacturer's test certificates for CT. it will have ratio error, partial discharge test, HV test.

Please confirm whether i have understood your question properly and answered the same.

Thanks
