Hydraulics Hasten "Cat" Construction

A radical catamaran design with movable center section for twin- or single-hull characteristics is being built a new way, thanks to hydraulics. Modules forming the ship will be constructed on a "table" with 14 hydraulic cylinders. Holding all the pieces together, hydraulic pressure forces the curvature before welding taking place; this process automates and shortens fabrication time.

Cool. I'm not familiar to the load distribution in ship skins, but it seems that even the remaining traction loads in the outside of the skin in the direction of the bend would improve material resistance against the outside water pressure.
