Software for Industrial Plant Maintenance / Optimization

02/19/2010 6:55 AM

Good day, I am a junior engineer working in an Ammonia Plant (trinidad). We currently employ various software for different purposes for plant maintenance and management:

1. JDE

2. Prism 4 (Non-critical rotating equipment)

3. Bentley (Critical equipment - real time monitoring)

4. Ultra-Pipe

5. RBMI (RBI)

6. Taproot

7. AutoCAD

I know that AutoCAD has recently gone 3D, but I believe FEA would be a great asset in plant analysis.

What i am getting at is: Can anyone suggest any additional software for different applications we may be interested in for plant maintenance and optimization?

Additionally, if there is any new technology for reliability engineering that anyone wants to suggest, feel free. Thank You

Amit

From UE Systems the DMS (Data Managment Software), it`s a great Software to trend and visualize changes in industrie equipment, beginning from bearings and motors till leaks in nearly every environment.

I suggest Meridium APM. See http://www.meridium.com

This software integrates assets and transactions with your EAM/JDE. It provides the capability to do Hazard Analysis, SIS, RCM and RBI then look at all the recomendations and actions from these analyses in a single view to examine the risks each is mitigating and the costs of this mitigation to make decisions on what is the optimal method of mitigating risks. The software also has tools to build models of assets and maintenance strategies and test those by doing monte carlo simulations by utilizing the failure data that is imported from EAMs. Failure data can also be used to do weibul, growth analyses and crtical spares analyses. Maintenance execution capabilities are available for calibration management, Operator rounds, inspections and thickness measurements.

I've worked with a few different software packages related to facility maintenance and Ivara, without a doubt, is the best I've ever worked with.

It's what we use now and I love it.

It's very scalable and depending on how complex of a system you get will be directly proportionate to how long it will take to set up and input all the needed data. But, once it's in place... it's very nice.
