function of vigi module

can a vigi module be used between 2 phases without connecting to earthing wire or a neutral wire?

its a protective device used to protect from earth faults, high short ckt currents etc....

Hi SHAMITHGAMBHIR1:

As far as i am aware all Vigi units are differential units so you never need to connect an earth. You will need to pass a neutral wire though the CT if it is being used in the circuit.

then how can it provide a earth fault protection without being connected to earth or a neutral wire?

Dear Shamith,

I think this vigi module is a brand of Schneider electric. You can contact Schenider rep for more clarifications. they have a very detailed literature regarding RCCB and RCBO- right from fundamental explanation to application. for your information, for earth leakage protection, neutral connection is a must. whether 2 pole or 4 pole.
