To dismantle a centrifugal pump, the usual procedure is to dismantle the inlet (suction) piping, remove the suction cover, pull out the impeller and then, from the back, pull out the shaft, seal and bearing assy. In a back pullout pump everything comes out the back, impeller and all. The pump casing remains as is, undisturbed, with all the piping etc attached. This is an excellent design, saves a lot of work and time in maintenance. Used in inline pumps and in some better, foundation mounted horizontal process pumps.
