Divide 18 MW by the rated power factor of the generator and select the next available MVA rating. For example, if the generator p.f is 0.8, the minimum required transformer MVA rating is 18MW/0.8 = 22.5 MVA. You can select 25 MVA, 33/11KV transformer in this case.

The minm. MVA rating of a generator transformer whose generator rating is 18MW will be,

MVA=18/0.8=22.5, where PF=0.8(assumed)

11/33KV, 22.5 MVA
